ABOUT ICAM
The International Court of Arbitration & Mediation, referred to as "ICAM", is an independent and autonomous body based in Washington, District of Columbia (USA). The ICAM Court is, however, not a tribunal.
The International commercial arbitration is a private dispute resolution process in which parties from different countries choose to have their disputes decided by one or more arbitrators, without the involvement of the courts of a particular country.
The International Court of Arbitration and Mediation (ICAM) is not a judicial body and does not itself render judgment on the substantive aspects of the disputed issues. According to its statute, the primary role of the ICAM is to provide oversight of arbitration proceedings in accordance with the ICAM Arbitration Rules, with its role, including review and approval of arbitral awards. The International Court of Arbitration and Mediation follows its own rules of procedure.
Whether the case is subject to ICAM rules or not, ICAM can act as the Appointing Authority, even if it is not in charge of its administration. ICAM can provide an electronic list of arbitrators or mediators with the expertise and experience relevant to your needs.
Appointments under the ICAM Arbitration Rules ensure that arbitration practices meet the highest standards. ICAM has established principles, criteria and a protocol used to assess the eligibility of its members. The ICAM list of arbitrators and mediators is not made available to the public as such.
